HISTORICAL SKETCH
Vicky Ann Moon founded Middleburg Life , a monthly newspaper of "Hunt Country people, lifestyles and trends" in 1983. Serving as its editor, Moon cultivated a following for Middleburg Life by chronicling people, businesses, organizations and events in Middleburg, Virginia and the surrounding area. Originally owned and published by The Pink Sheet, Inc. ownership of the paper changed hands several times. Moon continued to serve as editor and along with her husband Leonard Shapiro also regularly contributed as a staff writer. In December 2015, Middleburg Life was sold by its owner at that time, Northern Virginia Media, to David Greenhill, a local winery owner and satellite communications entrepreneur. Greenhill announced shortly after the purchase that Moon would continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief of Middleburg Life .
Along with Middleburg Life , Moon has also written about Middleburg and related topics in numerous other publications, including articles in The Washington Post , Leesburg Today , and magazines such as People and Town and Country . She published numerous books about Middleburg, including The Middleburg Mystique: a Peek Inside the Gates of Middleburg, Virginia , published in 2001, and The Private Passion of Jackie Kennedy Onassis: Portrait of a Rider , published in 2004. Moon and Shapiro are residents of both Middleburg and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
