The bound volumes consist of two ledgers, 1859 and 1876-1891, and an invoice book, 1879, listing items stocked in the store. The loose papers are almost all promissory notes and accounts relating to the business of the store.

Also in the collection are ca. 20 items relating to P. W. Emmerson , mostly all of which are notes of legal fees and amounts due the clerk and sheriff of Pittsylvania County . There is one personal letter, May 28, 1841, from Thomas W. Micaw to Colin Pass .
