Scope and Content
These two items--an account, 1856 and a tax bill, 1857--pertain to financial matters of William W. Cobb . The account, January 1856, of Cobb with merchant Robert W. Calloway reveals prices for animals, including cattle, pigs, and poultry, and grains. The 1857 tax bill, marked paid on January 18, 1858, from the Sheriff of Pittsylvania County gives information on Cobb's slave ownership.
