Scope and Content
This collection consists of a black & white photograph, 1886, of British scholar John Addington Symonds (1840-1893), taken by Walter L. [Colls ?] and used as the frontispiece for John Addington Symonds: A Biography Compiled From His Papers and Correspondence by Horatio Brown, published by J.C. Nimmo, 1895, in London.
Symonds was best known for his History of the Renaissance in Italy but also translated the Greek poets and the Renaissance poets, and wrote verse and literary criticism.
