Scope and Content

This collection consists of 205 items, 1957-1991, and undated, primarily the correspondence of Louis Halle of Geneva, Switzerland , and Kenneth Thompson , Director of the White Burkett Miller Center of Public Affairs , Charlottesville, Virginia . Also included are the typescripts of several of Halle's works such as Elements of Strategy , "Foreign Policy and Whose Morality ?" in the Virginia Quarterly Review , "The Owl of Athena," "The Role of the University in International Relations," The United States Acquires the Philippines , and "Where is History Taking Us ?". Also present is a review by [ Staige Blackford ?] entitled "The Great Mutiny and All That."

Their correspondence reveals Kenneth Thompson 's key role in securing publication of several of Louis Halle 's most recent books with the University Press of America , including Elements of International Strategy , The United States Acquires the Philippines , and History, Philosophy, and Foreign Relations: Background for the Making of Foreign Policy (1987 Feb 16).
