Scope and Content Information
This ledger, 1826-1838, was kept by [attorney] Patrick Henry Cabell of [Richmond and surrounding area], Virginia, as a record of his fees and commissions for various legal activities on behalf of clients. There are references to prominent Virginia families including the Cabell, Carrington, Lewis, Mosby, and Randolph families, and personalities such as John H. Mosby of Nelson County, John Poe of Richmond, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph. There are entries for such legal activities as: collecting on claims; defending clients in court; drafting complaints, deeds, warrants, and writs; making court motions; and so on.
