Acquisition Information

This collection was given to the Library by John V. Berberich III, Charlottesville, Virginia, throught K. Edward Lay, School of Architecture, University of Virginia, on August 3, 1992.

Scope and Content Information

This collection contains six items concerning Colle Mission, St. Luke's Chapel, Simeon, Albemarle County, Virgina, 1991-1992, consisting of two letters, a legal description, a field survey of the property, a boundary plat, and a plat showing the location of the monuments and markers in the New Cemetery and the Old Cemetery, all based on research conducted by Mr. and Mrs. John V. Berberich III.

St. Luke's Cemetery is located off Route 53 and is adjacent to the plats belonging to Sunnyfields Farm and Stanley Woodward. In Appendix A of the legal description, Berberich has tabulated a list of the names, birth and death dates on each of the markers in the Cemetery. Appendix B notes the burials in St. Luke's Cemetery that are recorded in the Register of the Chapel.
