This letter was purchased by the Library from Seaport Autographs of Mystic, Connecticut, on July 19, 1989.
Scope and Content Information
Richard Bland Lee (1797-1875) wrote to Philip R. Fendall, February 16, 1829, concerning the correct legal procedure that would allow him to purchase the slaves belonging to Mr. Gale. Lee wrote this letter while serving garrison duty at the United States Army Arsenal near Pikesville, Maryland.
