This collection was given to the Library by Nancy P. Allan of Hoffman Estates, Illinois, on January 4, 1989.
Scope and Content Information
This collection consists of thirty-one photographs, ca. 1850-1922, including ambrotypes, daguerreotypes, cartes-de-viste, sepia photographs, a postcard, and a snapshot.
These photographs include not only those of the Gaines family but also the Sutton family, a Richmond family involved in real estate and law, related to the Gaines family through the marriage of Sallie Gaines and James Taylor Sutton in 1856.
