Acquisition Information
This letter was made a gift to the Library by Mrs. Richmond L. Moore of Lynchburg, Virginia on June 13, 1984.
Scope and Content Information
This collection consists of an autographed letter, May 22, 1812, from William H. Cabell, Montevideo, to Peter Carr, Carrsbrook, Albemarle County, Virginia. Cabell expresses his sympathy for "poor Harrison" who has suffered the death of a child, apparently by drowning. He also asks Carr to tell Abram (his son, Abraham Cabell?) to bring with him "the Pantheon and his Latin Grammar." The letter also refers to the difficulties of setting up a new country residence, and the arrangement of Cabell's home and property.
