Scope and Content Information
The papers contain five letters in which Moore declines to
serve on the Joint Committee of the General Convention of the
Episcopal Church on the Psalms in Metre because he does not
believe in changing the Psalms; requests admission of a boy,
Henry Gillingham, to Nazareth Hall, an academy in Nazareth,
Pennsylvania; declines an invitation from his cousin,
President Moore of Columbia College; and declines to be a
pallbearer at the funeral of Mr. Erben because of poor
health.
There is also a deed of sale of a lot in New York City which was sold by Moore and his wife to Obadiah Smith in 1826.
Correspondents include John Gottlieb Herman, William Alfred Jones, Nathaniel Fish Moore, Mr. Weld, and William White.
