Scope and Content Information

In a letter, 1867 August 29, to Hurd and Houghton, John Pendleton Kennedy thanks his publishers for a copy of "Occasional addresses and the letters of Mr. Ambrose on the rebellion," and requests copies of three other books be sent to him in Paris.

There is also an 1856 November 10 railroad pass for a Mr. Bester signed by Kennedy as President  next hit of the Northern Central Railway Company.

Thanks to publishers for sending him a copy of Occasional addresses; and the letters of Mr. Ambrose on the rebellion; and asks them to send copies of his books, Swallow Barn, Horse Shoe Robinson, and Rob of the Bowl to him in Paris, directing Aux Soins de M. Gustave Bossange No 25 Qaui Voltaire to pay any additional charges until he is able to pick up the parcel of books.

Signed by John Pendleton Kennedy as previous hit President of Northern Central Railway Company, asking for free passage for Bester upon the roads from the Susquehannah as far as Williamsport and over the road of the Dauphin & Susquehannah and ultimately to the Sanbury and Erie, and offering to reciprocate the favor in the future.
