This eulogy was given to the Library by Edgar F. Shannon, Jr., of Charlottesville, Virginia, on January 14, 1992.

Scope and Content Information

This collection consists of the six page eulogy for Clifton Waller Barrett delivered by Edgar F. Shannon, Jr., President  next hit Emeritus, the University of Virginia, at the memorial service at St. Paul's Memorial Church, Charlottesville, Virginia, November 11, 1991. Shannon in his typed manuscript "Remarks at the Funeral of Clifton Waller Barrett" reminisces about meeting Clifton Waller Barrett as a young University of Virginia previous hit President and comments concerning the long and special relationship between Barrett and the University of Virginia. Shannon also shares some highlights of his myriad accomplishments both as a man of business and a man of letters.
