Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Camb[ridge, Massachusetts] , to Charles Stokes Wayne ("Horace Hazeltine"), responding to his cordial notice of "Poems of Places," discussing some poems commented on by Wayne, and remarking that "It is so dangerous to tamper with poems, after we have passed out of the mood in which they were written," copied by an unknown person.
