This is an one-page autograph letter, July 9 [1881], from Matthew Arnold, Cobham, Surrey, to the Rev. R[ichard] A[cland] Armstrong thanking him for his book and commenting that "there is not a word of harshness, but on the contrary much kindness in your criticism of me."
