These papers were given to the University of Virginia Library by Miss Mary W. Gold, Berryville, Virginia, on November 22, 1948.
Scope and Content Information
This collection consists of the autograph manuscript of the History of Clarke County, Virginia and related notes written by Thomas Daniel Gold (1845- ?) and published in 1914. Also present are three letters pertaining to the researching of the book, particularly the names of men in Captain James Sowers' Company, the 51st Virginia Militia, War of 1812 (1914 May 6).
