This collection was given to the Library in 1958 and 1970.
Scope and Content Information
The collection contains genealogical material for the Tucker, Forrest, and St. George families, including Colonial Dames ancestors of Anne Washington Brooke. Also included are an autobiographical article on the Merrimac-Monitor battle and other aspects of Confederate Army service written by St. George Tucker Brooke for his children, and an account of the Virginia lineage of the Brown family written by Governor Thomas Brown of Florida.
There is also a copy of the Civil War diary of Cynthia Tucker Coleman regarding an 1864 trip to occupied Williamsburg, along with other miscellaneous papers.
There are also various family memorabilia including clippings, poetry, souvenirs, postcards, and photographs.
