Acquisition Information

The collection was purchased by the Library from Jerry Showalter on January 10, 1973.

Scope and Content

Most of the items are promissory notes, receipts and accounts of George Baylor. Many concern the settlement of the estate of Jacob Baylor. The collection also contains a variety of court orders and summonses for Rockingham County, Va. There are a few items of correspondence in the 1890s, almost all concerning court and financial matters.
