Scope and Content

The Revolutionary War Pension Collection, part of the Mary B. Kegley Collection, consists of photocopies of pension records from the National Archives and Records Administration, legislative petitions at the Library of Virginia, and various Southwest Virginia county court order books. Kegley used these records for her book Revolutionary War Pension Applications of Southwest Virginia Soldiers , published in 1997 by Kegley Books.

The pension records contained in this collection are acid-free copies of the original photocopies and photostat copies obtained by Mary B. Kegley. The acid-free photocopies are arranged in alphabetical order by name of soldier. Researchers may consult the Kegley Library Vertical File collection for family folders with the original photocopies and photostats as well as research notes by Mary B. Kegley.
